Grenjeng Waterfall in Blitar City, East Java Province

These days, Blitar City has been recognized as one of the best vacation destinations in East Java Province. Why is that? It becomes the place where Soekarno (Indonesia’s first president) was born and buried. Aside from that, the region features lots of natural attractions including waterfalls. One of them is located in Panggungrejo Sub-District, which is called Grenjeng Waterfall. The exact location is in Kalibentak or Balerejo Village. It resides near to a district office, so the accessibility is considered well. The iconic landmark is a giant banyan tree, which is called Pohon Saman Raksasa!

The Nuance
Due to an easy accessibility, tourists can get to the site without hassles. They only need to find the banyan tree and head conduct a short trekking to the site. The route is narrow, though, so tourists must be careful. After arriving at the location, they may see a secluded landscape with a chilling atmosphere. The size of the waterfall is small and it the water discharge is weak as well. The best thing is indeed the water clarity. There is even a milky blue pond located under it.

Exploring Grenjeng Waterfall
Some people say Grenjeng Waterfall has undergone several changes over time, especially related to the size. Perhaps the change occurred due to the increasing amount of water discharge, accumulated over time. However, tourists won’t find any facilities there. What they can find are only the lush nature and peaceful atmosphere. That means relaxation and family recreation become two interesting things to do there. Thanks to the local villagers. They have cleaned up some trees for a neater nuance. Another purpose is to provide an easier accessibility to visitors.

The next reason why Grenjeng Waterfall is popular is the presence of numerous big rocks and stones in that area. The most common ones are black cliff stones, which are similar to ancient mountain rocks! These surround the waterfall and become a good object for photography. What is more? Tourists must come at the right time, though. It is because the water discharge becomes too strong during the rainy season. In fact, it may cause landslides and flood sometimes!

Even though tourists must pay attention to the weather when visiting Grenjeng Waterfall, they can take advantage of the strong water discharge to witness a more attractive water discharge. That means they would take photos of the waterfall comfortably. As an alternative, tourists can get in the natural pond and enjoy swimming there. One thing, the size of the pond is considered small, so tourists must come only during a peaceful time for the best comfort.
