SENDANG DUWUR

At Paciran, Lamongan, not far from the tomb of sunan drajad, can be found the mosque and cemeteryknows as Sendang Duwur. Located high up on a hill, the large complex is dedicated to an early Muslim saint, Sunan Sendang, who died in A.D 1585. The principal object of interest is the carved winged gateway. Legend has it thet the gate was ' flown' to its present location by Sunan Sendang.

Sendang Duwur, the main entrance is a Hindhu-style candi bentar, or 'split gate'; reamins of the original mosque, now in ruins
