Madiun
is the largest townin the western part of East Java. The city has saveral
points of interest, among them the ancient sugar mill Redjo Agung. Which
still runs on steam. For railway enthusiasts , a visit to the train
factory (INKA) is worthwhile, since Madiun is Indonesia's center for
train construction, repair and maintenance. The old station yard still
display one or two early European locomotives. The city also has some
fine examples of Dutch colonial architecture, tile work and other decoration.
