Surabaya, (ANTARA News) - KRI Hasanudin from Navy`s Eastern Fleet left here Tuesday for South Korea to join a South Korean Navy anniversary celebration.
“Warships from navies all over the world are joining the event `Republic of Korea Navy international Fleet Review`,” spokesman for the Indonesian Navy`s Eastern Fleet Command, Lt. Col. Toni Syaiful said, adding that the ship with a crew of 13 along with 88 auxiliary crew members, would have to celebrate Idul Fitri in Manila, the Philippines.
The Indonesian Navy`s newest ship commanded by Lieut.Col. I Gusti Kompyang Aribawa will go sail for two weeks.
The auxiliary crew members include a doctor, a navy military police officer, four naval amphibious command personnel, two intelligence officers, two Information officials and three journalists.
KRI Hasanudin left Surabaya for Busan, South Korea via Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, and the Philippines. The crew also had prepared art and cultural performances, because the navy also has diplomatic duties.
“They have practiced the Acehnese Saman and Balinese Kecak dancecs. If they still have a chance, they will also demonstrate their martial arts skills,” Aribawa said.
The entire program will be held from October 6 to 16. (*)navy
