Hyatt Hotel Surabaya changes name Into Bumi Hotel

Surabaya, (ANTARA News) - Hyatt Hotel in Surabaya will change its name into Bumi Surabaya Hotel starting November 1 as its owner failed to renew the contract.
“We get the information from the hotel`s General Manager. However, to make sure of the development, the management planned a meeting with the employees on October 23,” a former trade union member of the hotel Ibnu Haryono said here Sunday.
Haryono further said the employees feel uneasy about the management`s decision not to extend the contract with the Hyatt management. The decision will affect the number of visitors and also affect the employees` income.
“We are sure that the number of visitors will sharply decrease because the regular visitors were Gold Passport Hyatt Card holders,” said Haryono.
According to Haryono, the present management promises the employees will not affected by the development. However, the employees urged the management to make a written statement.
The employees will also evaluate the changes after the first semester to decide on next steps.
The majority stock of Hyatt Regency Surabaya Hotel belongs to Jiwa Bersama Insurance (AJB) Bumi Putera. According to a regulation of the Finance Minister, the insurance company AJB Bumi Putera is not allowed to run business in the property sector, but only in the financing sector.
However, with the sale as an excuse, AJB management insisted on taking over the management of Hyatt Regency and changed its name into Bumi Surabaya Hotel.
