Cycling: Anuar powers back with sprint wins

WHEN all their cards were down, Le Tua Cycling Team rose to rally behind Anuar Manan for the sprinter to grab his second consecutive points classification win in the Tour of East Java in Indonesia yesterday.
Over the five days of the Tour, which ended in Surabaya yesterday, Malaysia’s top team Le Tua had lost the green (points) and yellow (overall individual) after taking charge of both leads on the opening stage last Monday.
Anuar, 22, was two points behind Algerian Hannachi Abdelbaset of the Doha Team entering the 51-km criterium in Surabaya yesterday and emphatically stole back the jersey by winning both intermediate sprints on offer.
Anuar had also won the points classification in the Tour of East Java last year and it is his second green jersey this year after his feat in the Jelajah Malaysia in January.
The teams classification saw Le Tua maintain their fourth spot, while the national team improved from last to 18th in the final classification.
Final standings — General classification (yellow jersey): 1 Ghader Mizbani (Iran) Tabriz Petrochemical 12:25.34s, 2 Ahad Kazemi Sarai (Iran) Tabriz Petrochemical +1:34s, 3 Jai Crawford (Aus) Trek-Marco Polo +1:53s
Points classification (green jersey): 1 Anuar Manan (Mas) LeTua 18 points, 2 Hannachi Abdelbaset (Alg) Doha Team 15, 3 Vyacheslav Dyadichkin (Kaz) Polygon-Sweet Nice 8.
Teams classification: 1 Tabriz Petrochemical (Iran) 37:20.37s, 2 Polygon-Sweet Nice (Ina) +22:57s, 3 Giant Asia (Tpe) +23:21s, 4 Le Tua (Mas) +32:49s, 5 Jaysportswear-Beacon (Phi) +36:32s.
