The Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument

September 1st, 2006

The Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument describes a figure of a middle rank TNI- AL (Tentara National Indonesia- Angkatan Laut)/ Indonesian National Army- Navy officer wearing a complete uniform (Lenue PDU-1) looking to the direction of the sea, representing a next generation full with certainty and determination, ready to run through the waves and the storm, to move towards the main goal, that is the National Cause of Indonesian people.

Thus, this monument also describes the “tetenger”(Characteristic) of the passing on of the spirit of dedication from the previous generations who have just accomplished their duties to the next generations who have to carry on the work. This monument, which is constructed on the west end of Port Madura, will also be used as a lighthouse tower for the ships, which sail along the place.

The 30,8 meters high statue is standing on top of the 26,1 meters high building. On some part of the building, there is a diorama of heroic history of the navy since the era of physical pre-revolution up until the 90 s. This building is also functioning as an: Executive Meeting Room. Acting as the creative sculptors and architects are Drs Nyoman Nuarta and his co-workers who are joined in The Nyoman Nuarta Group.
