Surabaya : Shopper’s Paradise

Surabaya has an enviable reputation as a shopper’s paradise. There are more than 20 glistening air-conditioned malls open for your delight – and more are being built. Looking for international brand names like Louis Vuitton, Guess, Boss, Versace, Bally and others? They’re all in our grand city!

If your taste is for the traditional then there are markets galore just waiting to be explored. Browsing through the little shops will reveal dazzling displays of batik and a wealth of original handicrafts made in stone, wood and precious metals. Here the ancient crafts are still being practised by hand, the skills passed down the generations.

Don’t forget that Surabaya is more than 700 years old. Traders and craftspeople have been coming here for centuries – and many have stayed to build their own unique communities.
