Plural Painting; The Multi-Ethnical Art

Seeing Wahyu Nugroho’s paintings firstly. we will face the pictures of unusual object change the reality. The picture of human will never be the same. Some animals also have their own sketch in the hand of this born Pasuruan painter.

To color his paintings, not only from Indonesian culture, he also borrows many parts of foreign cultures. In his works, we can see the writing similar to Egyptian hieroglyph, a background of persian paintings, and many parts of Chinese culture.

As the object, he takes many crowds as the center of attention. We can see the hump of masks, people, and symbols in his works. Sometimes, they are not well arranged and they seem as a puzzle for every eye seeing it.

Recently, he is in his mood to draw symmetrical paintings. As his main object is a crowd, he halves it accurately to ease our eyes. It helps us so since the idea is still so complex to observe in a minute.

All of them, sometimes, make his works are difficult to interpret. we need extra-thought to get the idea. But, as the death of author in literary works, it is free for us to interpret his works. If our idea is far away from his, it is not a big matter since we still get the moral value.
