Sumenep Tourism

Sumenep is listed in the eastern end of Madura Island. It takes more than four hours toget to Sumenep by bus or taxi from Surabaya's harbour of Tanjung Perak.
Sumenep has some interesting sites to visit. Besides historical sites like Kraton and Tiny Museum, Traditional Art and Cultural Attractions as Mask Dance and Bull Race, it also
has beautiful beaches like Lombang beach and Slopeng beach to see.

THE GREAT MOSQUE
Sumenep Great Mosque is exactly in front of Taman Adipura (Adipura Park) and on the left of it is the building of regional consultative body. The style of the building was influenced by Islamic, China and Europe architecture. All these can be seen on its beautiful and unique gate.

ADIPURA PARK
Adipura Park is a park surrounded with some kinds of plantations. It is a place for taking a rest in the evening for the family.

MUSEUM AND KERATO OF SUMENEP
The old building on the right side of the road is a place for keeping a gold carriage, a gift from Queen of England to Sumenep King. Beside that it is also used to keep other old things like old chairs, old table and the like.

ASTA TINGGI CEMETRY
Asta Tinggi has two main buildings. The first is on the west side where one can find an old ‘pendopo’ and three grave dooms. It is a simple ‘pendopo’ used to held a meeting in the time ago, while the dooms is a placed for grave.

SLOPENG BEACH
As the best beach in Madura, Slopeng is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and relaxing. A stage for traditional performance is available.

LOMBANG BEACH
Many pine trees surround Lombang beach. A unique custom of the people from Legung village is “sleeping on the sand” can be seen here.
